Foster, a fresh-food distributor, recently acquired a distribution warehouse in Winston-Salem from Purple Crow for $23.5 million. The 157,878 square foot building located at 2900 Lowery St. was previously used by Purple Crow as their headquarters for distributing Hispanic foods before they moved to Whitaker Park last year.
According to the Triad Business Journal, Foster plans to use the property as their new headquarters and logistics center to serve various customers including retail stores, wholesale trade businesses, restaurants and food service companies in the Piedmont Triad area. Currently operating from the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market in Colfax, this move will allow Foster to expand its operations.
With incentives worth up to $86,550 provided by Winston-Salem and Forsyth County governments,the company has announced an investment of approximately $6.25 million over five years which is expected create 165 new jobs.
On its website,Foster states that it originated as Foster & Caviness,a small fruit and vegetable business based in Greensboro,North Carolina,and has now grown into a multi-state corporation providing comprehensive solutions for food supply chain management.
