The Houston Housing Authority has officially opened the doors of 2100 Memorial, a senior living facility named after its location. This project was heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and has since undergone demolition and reconstruction. The new five-story building began construction in May 2022, with $25 million of the total cost being funded by federal relief funds for Hurricane Harvey.
According to reports from the Houston Business Journal, former residents who were affected by the hurricane were given priority to return to their homes at 2100 Memorial. Out of the 196 units available (ranging from studios to two-bedrooms), twenty-five residents have chosen to come back.
Managed by Columbia Residential and developed by Block Cos., this property offers a variety of unit sizes ranging from approximately 502-982 square feet. Additionally, there is one hospitality unit available for use.
Overall, it is exciting news that after years of rebuilding efforts following Hurricane Harvey’s devastation, residents can finally return home at newly renovated apartments located on Memorial Drive.
