The Rockefeller Group is currently developing a state-of-the-art distribution center spanning one million square feet in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The acquisition of the 87.7-acre land for this project was completed in November 2022 from A&L Properties 4 at a cost of $4.8 million.
Situated just off Highway 221 and approximately one mile northwest of the I-85 Exit 78 interchange, Spartanburg 221 boasts Class A specifications and is being built on a speculative basis. Construction began earlier this year and is slated to be completed by the fourth quarter of next year with Atlas Collaborative serving as the architect and Pattillo Construction as general contractor.
According to Steven McGee, an executive at Rockefeller Group, there has been an increase in demand for high-quality distribution and manufacturing space due to significant investments made by companies like BMW and Volvo within the automotive industry community located nearby. This has attracted other businesses such as Boysen USA and Winar Connection who have already chosen to invest in Spartanburg.
