Merritt Development Group and Phoenix Development Partners are in the early stages of planning a new Residence Inn by Marriot in San Antonio’s Government Hill neighborhood. According to the San Antonio Business Journal, this proposed $60 million project will be part of the Broadway East mixed-use district spanning 15 acres.
The hotel, which is expected to have 175 rooms, will be located at the intersection of East Grayson Street and North Alamo Street. Construction is set to begin in Q3 of 2024.
The land for this development is owned by local real estate developer GrayStreet Partners. The company successfully obtained an IDZ-3 designation from both the Zoning Commission and City Council earlier this year for one parcel designated for the hotel. This allows for a taller building exceeding 35 feet.
Concord Hospitality Group, known for operating several Marriott hotels throughout San Antonio, has been chosen as operator for this new Residence Inn location. DLR Group from Omaha, Nebraska has been selected as architecture firm responsible designing plans.
