South Miami’s leaders are set to choose 13th Floor Investments as the winning bidder for a $309 million redevelopment plan. After conducting a Request for Proposal (RFP) process, it was determined that this company was the only one that met all of the town’s requirements.
The town is seeking to revitalize an area of 4.5 acres located at 6130 Sunset Drive through a public-private partnership (P3). This site currently houses City Hall, the Police Department, and a branch of Miami-Dade County Library.
The proposed project, called Link at SoMi, will consist of two 15-story buildings with a total of 670 residential units. Additionally, there will be approximately 28,000 square feet designated for retail space and parking accommodations for up to880 vehicles. The development also includes plans for constructinga five-story municipal building spanning over70 ,000 square feet which will house City Hall,the Police Department,andthe library.
Miami-based Corwil Architects have designed this project while Coral Gables-based RJ Heisenbottle Architects has been brought on board as historic preservation consultants.
