**$10 Billion Natural Gas-Powered Data Center Campus Planned in Pittsburgh**

A massive $10 billion redevelopment is set to transform a recently demolished power plant site into North America’s largest natural gas-powered data center. The transformation will take place in Homer, located in the Pittsburgh region, and marks the largest capital investment in Pennsylvania’s history.

The planned development, known as the Homer City Energy Campus, will span more than 3,200 acres. It is designed to serve the growing demand for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure. The initial capital outlay will focus on power infrastructure and site readiness, with billions more expected to be invested in data center construction.

At full capacity, the Homer City Energy Campus will deliver up to 4.5 gigawatts of power to operate AI-driven, hyperscale data centers. In a significant shift from the site’s former use as a coal-powered plant, the project is projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 60–65% per megawatt hour.

The development is also poised to provide a major boost to the local economy. More than 10,000 construction-related jobs will be created during the build-out phase, along with around 1,000 permanent direct and indirect high-paying positions once the facility is operational.
